Introduction to Nitrosulfuric Acid
Nitrosulfuric acid is a sulfur oxyacid with the chemical formula NOHSO4. It is used in chemical reactions to provide NO+ ions. It can also be seen as a mixed anhydride of sulfuric acid and nitrous acid. NOHSO4 is used in organic chemistry to prepare diazonium salts from amines. A typical method is to dissolve sodium nitrite with concentrated sulfuric acid in an ice bath. Other reagents capable of extracting NO groups include nitrosyl fluoroborate ([NO]BF4) and nitrosyl chloride.
Nitrosulfuric acid uses
1. Mainly used to replace sodium nitrite in the diazo reaction of disperse dyes, thereby reducing costs and improving product quality
2. Nitrosating agent, making solid diazonium salt, cyclic acid amine, etc.
